Why Squarespace?

The User Experience of Squarespace is outstanding. The Squarespace platform provides the cleanest framework to produce custom sites. The combination of this excellent structure and my custom code is what enables me to build comprehensive user friendly sites.

With every site I make I provide an instructional video to show you how to update and add blogs etc to your site.

Squarespace has basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) built in - which I enhance and tweak when I build the site.

Their support is unparalleled and I find it to be the best all rounder when it comes to website builders. This is why I work mainly on Squarespace. On occasion I use another platform - Cargo.site, this can be more suitable for the quirky or budget end of the market. Dependant on your needs I can help you to decide which is most suitable for you.

Mobile optimisation - Squarespace uses Accelerated Mobile Pages format which basically means that it loads your pages super fast by getting rid of unnecessary code.

Are there other costs?

Website Hosting: it's a bit like a subscription, you can choose to pay monthly or annually. It covers both your domain and hosting services, and it’s currently about £17-35 per month on Squarespace.

Custom Fonts: Most of the time, we just use fonts that are free for everyone to use. But, if you're keen on something unique for your brand, we can sort you out. Getting licenses for those special fonts is usually a one-time thing, but is really important to make sure we have in place.

Stock Imagery: Mostly it is possible to source excellent royalty free stock images, however if you are looking for something else, occasionally we can purchase stock images.

Branding.

I specialize in web development and offer basic branding services, which include selecting color palettes, basic logos, and fonts. However, please note that I no longer undertake larger branding projects as my focus is primarily on development work.

If you're interested in basic branding services, such as selecting color palettes, basic logos, and fonts, I am happy to provide these and they will be need to be finalized before we commence the website building process. This is something we can discuss during our first call.

For a more comprehensive branding package, I collaborate with skilled branding designers whose expertise matches your aesthetic preferences. Please keep in mind that a thorough branding process typically takes around 6 weeks.
If we decide to bring in extra creative talent to enhance your vision, we'll make sure to include their fees in the project scope so that there are no surprises!

Getting set up.

I will set up a shared dashboard for you on Notion so that you can see what we need before starting the project. This will include full copy, uploading your branding assets, all of your domain information and necessary logins, any images that you want to include, high res, so I can format to the correct size for your site.

Once we have all of this ready I will start to build the site.

Financial stuff.

Once we have chosen a date and the contract has been signed and agreed, 50% of the full price is payable before commencement. When it is finished, the rest of the balance is due, before the site is made ‘live’. There will be in depth copies of the signed contract on your Notion dashboard, detailing this fully.

Can you do it any cheaper?

From time to time, I'm asked if I can create a more budget-friendly site. I completely understand that not everyone has a hefty budget for a custom site. That's why I offer a 'Far from Basic' option. It's really the most affordable I can offer without cutting into the essentials.

I've been working with Squarespace for over 5 years now, so I've factored in all the groundwork: setting up, handling domain transfers, and taking care of all the necessary admin tasks before we get into the fun part. It's all part of the package.
